BACKGROUND
Huacui Bridge is one of the most important bridges to connect Taipei City and Satellite cities-Banciao. Banciao is the administrative center of New Taipei City and focuses on development. It aims to become a modern metropolis in order to attract more residents who are from Taipei City to come to live. However Banciao is a traditional culture area, and there are many traditional architectures and temples. Therefore taking into account the culture preservation and innovation are important.
PROJECT AIM

PROJECT AIM
Colour can affect humans mood, different colours can reflect different meanings. However, recently the majority of urban areas have similar atmosphere and scenery. Because they used modern colours and materials in the buildings, the cities lost their characteristics and uniqueness. In order to improve the living standard of the citisens and create Taipei County's feature, this project firstly focused on investigating and analysing the environment, culture and colour distribution. Subsequently, We established colour planning, colour management and colour system for Taipei County. Finally, the government implemented the Huacui Bridge soundproof wall painting scheme and architectural planning, designing of the bridge on both sides.
INVESTIGATE
The first phase “research of local colors” is done by acquiring the Munsell level of current colour of the city. The second phase “Local opinion survey” is to collect a variety of recommendation and opinions from inhabitants of the city, the results are as follows

Taipei County Banciao colour distribution
Statistical analysis and Adjective analysisAccording to the investigate of urban colour distribution, the low chroma colour and dull colour are 56% of whole colour that we researched. Therefore in this project, we plan the fundamental colour should be restricted to low chroma range, aid colour and emphasis colour can be middle chroma range and high chroma range respectively.
Establish colour system
According to the investigation, we analysed and arranged colours in order to establish Taipei County colour system. Through this system, the environmental colour pollution will decrease, and the area’s cultural character will be restored. It needs not only the unification of colours but also the combination of the local culture to display the feature of the local. In terms of the colour system, I recommend the use of colour specifications and limitations, such as the low chroma colour could be used in the large area, and the high chroma colour could be used in the specific area. The results are as follows.

Design Planning
In this design project, we divided Huacui bridge into three parts. It represents three different goals and concepts. The first part connects with Taipei County, the second part is middle of the bridge, and the third part connects with Taipei City. The concepts convey innovation, culture and vitality respectively.
The planning was implemented in the soundproof wall painting scheme of Huacui Bridge. In this project, we decided that the buildings should be background of the bridge and tinted the simple colours to reduce the colour pollution. Thus, the aspect of colour scheme, it was recommended that the basic colours of the buildings should be fresh, clean and unified. For the soundproof walls, it was recommended to use middle chroma colour to create warmth, energy and prosperity.
